Remembering Bill Hicks

Why is marijuana against the law? It grows naturally on our planet, serves a thousand different functions, all of them positive. To make marijuana against the law is like saying that God made a mistake. Like on the seventh day God looked down, "There it is. My Creation, perfect and holy in all ways. Now I can rest. [Gives shocked expression] Oh my Me! I left fuckin' pot everywhere. I should never have smoked that joint on the third day. Hehe, that was the day I created the possum. Still gives me a chuckle. But if I leave pot everywhere, that's gonna give people the impression they're supposed to … use it. Now I have to create Republicans." " … and God wept", I believe is the next part of that story.

People say to me, "Bill, quit bringing up Kennedy, man. Let it go. It was a long time ago. Just forget about it." All right, then don't bring up Jesus to me. I mean, as long as we're talking shelf-life here. "You know, Bill, Jesus died for you …" Yeah, it was a long time ago. Forget about it. How about this: get Pilate to release the fuckin' files. Quit washing your hands, Pilate, and release the files. Who else was on that grassy Golgotha that day?

You ever notice that everyone who believes in creationism looks really unevolved? Eyes real close together, big furry hands and feet. "I believe God created me in one day." Yeah, looks like he rushed it.

People often ask me where I stand politically. It's not that I disagree with Bush's economic policy or his foreign policy, it's that I believe he was a child of Satan sent here to destroy the planet Earth. Little to the left.

Speaking of Satan, I was watching Rush Limbaugh the other day. Doesn't Rush Limbaugh remind you of one of those gay guys that like to lie in a tub while other guys pee on him?

am available for children's parties, by the way.

Still as relevant as ever. RIP Bill - never forgotten.

OOTD - twofold!

What a difference a weekend makes. This Sunday seen me go to the Rob Zombie gig (which, by the way, was AWESOME!), so I went a bit mental with my make up, hair and outfit. Then, come today (Tuesday), I had a job interview, for a job I would adore, so I Joan'd it up a little, hoping my retro look would let me stand out from the other applicants. Time will tell!

If this wasn't me though, I'd have trouble believing this was the same person!

Hat - Vintage (and borrowed!)
Dress - Asda, oddly enough!
Mesh top - Hellfire, a million years ago!
Corset - no label
Shoes - Rocket Dog (and comfy!)

Glasses - Red Or Dead
Dress - BHS
Shoes - New Look

I love that I'm gothing it up one day and channelling Joan Holloway (never Harris!! grr) the next - or rather two day, if you want to be pedantic :P

Life's a catwalk when you decide to have fun with style :D

Could've been epic...

AN OPEN LETTER FROM ANONYMOUS
February 16, 2011

TO THE CONGREGANTS OF WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH:

We, the collective super-consciousness known as ANONYMOUS - the Voice of Free Speech & the Advocate of the People - have long heard you issue your venomous statements of hatred, and we have witnessed your flagrant and absurd displays of inimitable bigotry and intolerant fanaticism. We have always regarded you and your ilk as an assembly of graceless sociopaths and maniacal chauvinists & religious zealots, however benign, who act out for the sake of attention & in the name of religion.
Being such aggressive proponents for the Freedom of Speech & Freedom of Information as we are, we have hitherto allowed you to continue preaching your benighted gospel of hatred and your theatrical exhibitions of, not only your fascist views, but your utter lack of Christ-like attributes. You have condemned the men and women who serve, fight, and perish in the armed forces of your nation; you have prayed for and celebrated the deaths of young children, who are without fault; you have stood outside the United States National Holocaust Museum, condemning the men, women, and children who, despite their innocence, were annihilated by a tyrannical embodiment of fascism and unsubstantiated repugnance. Rather than allowing the deceased some degree of peace and respect, you instead choose to torment, harass, and assault those who grieve.
Your demonstrations and your unrelenting cascade of disparaging slurs, unfounded judgments, and prejudicial innuendos, which apparently apply to every individual numbered amongst the race of Man - except for yourselves - has frequently crossed the line which separates Freedom of Speech from deliberately utilizing the same tactics and methods of intimidation and mental & emotional abuse that have been previously exploited and employed by tyrants and dictators, fascists and terrorist organizations throughout history.

ANONYMOUS cannot abide this behavior any longer. The time for us to be idle spectators in your inhumane treatment of fellow Man has reached its apex, and we shall now be moved to action. Thus, we give you a warning: Cease & desist your protest campaign in the year 2011, return to your homes in Kansas, & close your public Web sites.
Should you ignore this warning, you will meet with the vicious retaliatory arm of ANONYMOUS: We will target your public Websites, and the propaganda & detestable doctrine that you promote will be eradicated; the damage incurred will be irreversible, and neither your institution nor your congregation will ever be able to fully recover. It is in your best interest to comply now, while the option to do so is still being offered, because we will not relent until you cease the conduction & promotion of all your bigoted operations & doctrines.

The warning has been given. What happens from here shall be determined by you.

WE ARE ANONYMOUS.
WE ARE LEGION.
WE DO NOT FORGIVE.
WE DO NOT FORGET.
EXPECT US.

Snapshots...

Ok, I'm being a little cheeky and nicking an idea from the always lovely Violet LeBeaux and doing a post of random pics that I've got sitting on my laptop. Mostly, because it's 8.26am and I've not slept. Again. Oops.

Thomas Jack & Olivia, two giant pieces of my heart. You can't help but giggle loads when they're all over you, constantly hugging and having fun. I miss them loads and demand a Glasgow visit soon!

Sitting still for a picture was never gonna be easy with us three. Mama tried in vain for a *nice* picture while us three sisters were together (an occurrence that's sadly rare since we live all over the place!) So she got what she got, and me, Lyndsay and Jaime Leigh got sore tummys from laughing so hard :D

And here's mama! I love this picture, even though she'll no doubt complain about some flaw only visible to her (and Lyndsay when she'll in a bitchy mood Which is often! :P) But I don't care, its a lovely picture of Grandma and LivvyLoo :D

Hong Kong across the road from my nephew's school? In rural Wales? Colour me confuddled!

My awesome & inspiring friend Sandy and her equally awesome & inspiring son Isaac, my ickle sister Sara & her obviously amorous daughter Grace! I'm a very proud auntie to both :D

I went to a gig last night (some pics below) so thought it was a perfect excuse to break out the falsies and the free sample I received from Sugarpill from my last order. I put the Goldilux on dry, and only needed the TINIEST amount altogether, blended up to the crease line and switched it up to a Barry M lilac. I think the sample alone will last ages, but no reason not to buy the real thing! :D

Echo-Bass! Echo-Bass! Echo-Bass!
Going to an Echo-Bass gig is a guaranteed pick me up. I grew up with the majority of the band and the group of us that support them, so going to a gig is almost like going back to those not-so-innocent days for a night!

I always think that even when they are playing the instruments, us fans are part of the performance. We sing along, bop up and down and bust the dancefloor. People there for other bands sit up and take notice of the sheer power the band and fans have. I go to as many gigs as I can, but no matter what, when the planets align and EVERYONE manages to make it - carnage of the best kind ensues!

Echo-Bass! Echo-Bass! Echo-Bass!

Hugo is getting so big! I've been told by mama dearest to take more pictures of Hugo since he's the only grandchild I'll be giving her :P

My Love. He hates this picture, says he looks tired. But he was, so I don't care. Tonight we're off to see Rob Zombie, the last thing we can treat ourselves to until I bully a job out of somewhere. I'm fighting hard to get back on the job market, but until then we're *just* covered, so I'm taking the fact we're not gonna struggle for the basics as a win. It's still a sucky situation, but we're still a damn sight luckier than most. Together we'll smash through and get back on track. If for no other reason than I need disposable income for make up and shoes! :D

Brit Awards dress lust

I meant to watch the Brits last night, but - to be honest - I only watch these things for the dresses. So I saved myself some time and just looked them today. As the divine Miz Westwood designed the statuette this year*, I wasn't surprised to see a lot of celeb's wearing her designs. My personal favourite was Katherine Jenkins, she looked beautiful in a green cocktail dress I'd gladly sell my mammy for (sorry mum!) Weirdly, to me, Paloma Faith topped a lot of worst dressed list, proof again that these so called trend spotters have no fucking imagination. One went as far as too remark that big bows as head pieces were "just wrong". Dude, don't even pretend you're too cool. She looked polished, happy and comfortable in her own style. Sophie Ellis Bextor has always been my style icon, twisted vintage to rock out with her lashes out. Seriously, I have serious lash skillz envy, hers are always perfect. But the biggest surprise to me is how much I truly love Rihanna's purple and turquoise mille feuille dress. As much as I heart the white floral dress, I had such a strong reaction to the one she arrived in. Maybe it's because it's Doir. Haute Couture Dior mind!

Ok, enough with the gabbing, here's the pretty. I've nabbed the images from various different websites. As I was busy playing Fallout: New Vegas last night, I obviously didn't take these pictures, so they don't belong to me!

Clockwise from left - Katherine Jenkins in Vivienne Westwood, Sophie Ellis Bexter in Dolce & Gabbana, Rihanna in Christian Dior Haute Couture, Rihanna in Oscar de la Renta. Underneath is Paloma Faith in what I can only assume is vintage because I can't find a name for it anywhere :D

What look was your favourite? One here or another? Tell me!

Thursday 10 February 2011

Look man, I'm telling you right off the bat, I'm high-maintainance..

Eternal Sunshine if the Spotless Mind is my favourite movie. Well, joint first with The Crow, for the goth in me.

I could wax lyrical about how I related to the character of Clementine, how words and phrases she said I had held as my own personal mantra for years. My best friend Maffu and I went to see it when it first came out and both of us were freaked out at the eerie similarities. I even had a smoke when I came out of the cinema, and I don't smoke as a general rule.

You could tell a lot about Clementine, and what emotional state she was in, by the colour of her hair. Green, when Joel and Clementine truly meet, a new relationship blossoms, then she dyes it red. As the passion of their relationship of their relationship fades, so does the red, to orange, until the troubles prove too much and she leaves, reinventing her self, and her memories. When her hair is blue, she is troubled yet doesn't know why, and she tries to find a connection with anyone who can give her the answers she needs.

I chose the red and orange as the prominent colours of this look since most people try find a balance between the extremes of fire and passion, and the slow and maybe too comfortable ease with someone. Underneath that, in the blue and green there is always a fear, maybe the idea of losing the one you love, or of falling out of love, or of just settling. Maybe, some people still look for other people for the answers they should know themselves.

Joel: I can't see anything that I don't like about you.
Clementine: But you will! But you will. You know, you will think of things. And I'll get bored with you and feel trapped because that's what happens with me.
Joel: Okay.
Clementine: Okay.

Snapshots from Wales

I'm visiting my family in Wales this week. For the first time, properly, since Christmas 2009, that me, Lynzi and Jaime Leigh as well as Mama have been together. See, Lynzi and my mum live here, in South Wales  while I live in Glasgow and Jaime Leigh is in nearby (to me) Paisley. It's been difficult to make plans to get together, but when Mama underwent an operation last November we pulled together and we managed to be here, albeit for 3 full days, but we got it done. This time though, it's all fun!

After all that, the morning after there was only one thing to do - cover the truth with LOTS OF MAKE-UP!

Today me, Mama and Livvy Loo went for a drive, and visited Ogmore Castle...

...and Southerndown Beach

I've taken much much more pictures, but I'm not being one of those "look at my holiday snaps" kinda person. I'm not. Honest.

*Disclaimer - I can't promise no more pictures. Both my family and Wales are too beautiful. I need to get permission from my sister to post pictures of Thomas Jack & Olivia - and then it's free season!
